Establishing the Covenant in This Generation
The Bible is God's covenant (contract, promise) with man.
The 2nd chapter of Ephesians describes a timeline about who we were in times past before Christ but God showed up with His mercy and saved us. It later tells us that after we have received Christ that in the ages to come, He wants to reveal to us the riches of His grace when He saved us. Wouldn't it be sad if you today in Christ were an heir to the covenants of promise yet you're still a stranger because you don't know it? Spiritually you are saved by faith in Jesus Christ; mentally you are in the same position you were before receiving Christ because you don't have knowledge of the covenants of promise that were given to Abraham by God.
In Galatians 3, God speaks of the covenant He made with Abraham. Abraham is listed in the New Testament 74 times. It is important for believers to understand why Abraham is mentioned and how to apply God's promises to Abraham to our lives today. Abraham was called the Father of Faith (Hebrews 11:8) and the Friend of God (James 2:23). God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham - a covenant that had no end. That covenant is still in effect today. The whole story of the cross is one of covenant - God sent His Son Jesus to earth to honor God's covenant with Abraham. Jesus came to the earth to fulfill, validate, confirm and finalize the Abrahamic covenant for all who believe. Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect." Believers are to receive God's promises - including that of salvation - through the covenant and not through the law, works or man-made actions. Get a "COVENANT MENTALITY" and know the basis of your covenant with God and understand that this covenant is still active today!
